I love – and clients love – that my sessions are mostly online now. I completed extensive Telehealth training (20 hours) to offer this option to my clients.

What can I expect from empowerment coaching services?
You get the best of all worlds with Avenues of Light! You get the same psychotherapy techniques used in a counseling session with the addition of having direct coaching advice. I provide you all the benefits of counseling, with the addition of coaching direction, homework, accountability, and consistent feedback.
You’ll get the highest quality services from an experienced professional. That’s not someone just nodding their head and collecting your money!
What should I NOT expect from empowerment coaching?
We are not going to focus on a label or diagnosis.
We are not going to therapeutically treat suicide or depression, as this would be for medical attention, not coaching.
We are not going to fixate on your problems…
We are going to focus on solutions!
What can I expect when working with you as my empowerment coach?
I genuinely aim to build a trusting, therapeutic, coaching relationship with you – one where you feel safe to trust and be vulnerable enough for me to lead you directly where you need to be.
I can be very direct yet educational. I am transparent with all my clients. I enjoy the friendship that develops as we collaborate and celebrate your triumphs. It becomes a great journey!
How do I know if we are a good fit to work together?
If you are absolutely committed and motivated to make YOU a priority in your life…
If you are willing to consistently put in the work…
If you are willing to learn and try new things and push beyond your comfort zone…
If you’re ready to make a financial investment in yourself – today and for your future…
If you are ready to start seeing actual results from proven techniques and start taking massive action now…
If you are to ready and willing to receive direct feedback and direction into what it takes to feel better…
Then, YES, we’re ready to get to work!
Do you take insurance?
I do not… because I stand for the healing of a person without restrictions. When it comes to insurance, I feel there are too many obstacles and hoops.
I prefer that the healing process not be restricted by labels, diagnoses, or the number of sessions that are often determined by insurance companies.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin collaboratively by asking you a few questions to gauge and understand where you are in life, your obstacles, and an idea of what you would like to overcome.
If we’re a good fit, we’ll then create a game plan – a roadmap to your better future… and get to it!!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have loved psychology since I was a child. I started reading relationship books in the 90s and many other psychology and neuroscience books for fun and mere fascination.
I had to learn on my own how to overcome the most difficult emotions, struggles, and pain to create a new me. I had to fight for the life I wanted!
This is why I am blessed to give back what wasn’t given to me in my darkest times. My soul’s passion is to help guide people into healing and empowerment!
What advice would you give a client looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
What questions should clients think of before talking to you?
How long will it take to make a difference?
It depends on the person. I say the harder you’re willing to make changes than the sooner changes will occur!
It also depends on the frequency of sessions to keep the healing momentum. Most of my clients have shared with me that they started seeing differences from the first day of working with me.
I meet with clients weekly and biweekly at minimum. Each session lasts the duration of the appointment time you scheduled. This consistency maximizes the impact of the work and allows us to make legitimate progress toward your goals.
The total duration of your treatment is up to you! Some people come for a “tune up” type of experience. They only want/need a handful of sessions and feel equipped to move on. Others prefer to dive in and do deeper work and those individuals may choose to commit to longer periods of time.
Research suggests that addressing acute symptoms like general stress and anxiety typically requires a minimum of 15 to 20 sessions for significant improvement. For more complex, chronic issues like processing childhood trauma, the number of sessions can vary widely, ranging from 30 to 150. It’s crucial for anyone considering therapy to be fully aware of this commitment, both emotionally and financially.
What’s something interesting you’ve done lately?
I recently helped my 95-year-old grandfather extend his garden. I help him plant the garden every year, and this year we did it over three weekends.
We now have an enclosed space with a door and screens to keep his garden safe and free of hungry little critters.
Are you a medical doctor?
